.

Holarrhena curtisi King & Gamble

Shrub, 1-2 m tall, of clear forests with sandy soil in Cambodia, Laos, Southern Vietnam and Thailand. The flowers, white, are edible after a fast cooking; they are consumed especially in times of scarcity (1975- 1979). The 10 cms in diameter white wood is used for the manufacture of small domestic and cult objects. Traditional Cambodian medicine considers the plant as a precious drug against dysentery. The leaves having slightly diuretics and antidysenteric properties are prescribed to children. Stalk, bark and roots are the most used under the form of decoction and sometimes of dyes in light alcohol.
