Diospyros decandra Lour.

Tree or shrub, 5-10 m tall, of the dense forests of the Indochinese Peninsula, cultivated around the houses for its fragrant yellow of gold fruits, edible. Flattened fruits (paèn) when the tree is young, and rounded off (chan’) when the plant is older. Very hard wood, used in cabinetwork and for the manufacture of toys. Leaves, roots and fruits used in traditional medicine. Crushed, the leaves are used as poultice applied on ulcers. The roots are a component of a remedy against the plague and venereal diseases. The fruits would be vermifuge.
