ZINGIBER (Zingiberaceae)
Zingiber purpureum Roscoe
Herb, 1-2 m tall, of the dense forests of Southeast Asia. Often cultivated near houses. In Cambodia, the crushed leaves are applied on the fontanel of newborn children to avoid cold. Rhizomes are sometimes chewed in small quantity with the betel. They would also be vermifuge. The lotion obtained by maceration of the rhizome in alcohol is used to treat rheumatisms and bruises.

តិណជាតិម្យ៉ាង កំពស់ ១-២ម ដុះក្នុងព្រៃធំ នៃអាស៊ីផ្នែកអាគ្នេយ៍ គេច្រើនដាំក្នុងសួនជិតផ្ទះ ។ នៅស្រុកខ្មែរ គេបុកស្លឹកពន្លៃ ឬមើមសម្រាប់បិទលើបង្ហើយ កូនខ្ចីដើម្បីការពារផ្ដាសាយ ។ គេតែងបរិភោគមើមពន្លៃមួយដុំតូចជាមួយស្លាម្លូ ។ មើមអាចប្រើធ្វើជាថ្នាំព្រូន ។ គេត្រាំមើមក្នុងស្រា ធ្វើជាថ្នាំ បំពោកលើសន្លាក់ឆ្អឹង និង កន្លែងជាំដោយរបួស ឬ ដង្គិច ។

Herbe, haut de 1-2 m, des forêts denses du Sud-Est Asiatique. Souvent cultivée près des habitations. Au Cambodge, les feuilles, pilées, servent à appliquer sur les fontanelles des nouveau-nés pour prévenir contre le rhume. Les rhizomes sont parfois mastiqués, en petite quantité, avec du bétel. Ils seraient aussi vermifuges. La lotion obtenue après macération du rhizome dans l’alcool sert pour le traitement des rhumatismes et des contusions.
