Tamarindus indica L.
Small tree, 8-15 m tall, Indian or African origin, cultivated in all tropical regions of the world as shadow, decorative and utilitarian plant. The young leaves and fruits are used in the culinary preparations as acid elements. The seeds are used to cook a sweet dish. Wood used in construction. The decoction of the barks would be effective against diarrhoea. There is a variety of tamarind with sweet fruits met especially in Thailand.

ព្រឹក្សតូចម្យ៉ាងកំពស់៨-១៥ម ដើមកំណើតក្នុងទ្វីបអាហ្វ្រិកឬប្រទេសឥណ្ឌា គេនិយមដាំនៅគ្រប់ប្រទេសក្តៅសកលលោក ជារុក្ខជាតិមានប្រយោជន៍ និងអោយម្លប់ផង ។ ស្លឹកខ្ចីៗ និងផ្លែគេប្រើសំរាប់ធ្វើគ្រឿងទេសជូរ ។ គ្រាប់អាចលីង និងធ្វើបង្អែមបាន ។ ឈើសំរាប់សង់ផ្ទះ ។ គេស្ងោរសំបកផឹកជាថ្នាំរាគ ។ មានពូជអម្ពិលផ្អែមច្រើនដុះក្នុងប្រទេសថៃ ។

Petit arbre, haut de 8-15 m, d’origine indienne ou africaine, cultivé dans toutes les régions tropicales du monde comme plante d’ombre, ornementale et utilitaire. Les jeunes feuilles et les jeunes fruits sont utilisés dans les préparations culinaires en tant qu’éléments acides. Les graines servent à préparer un mets sucré. Bois employé en construction. La décoction des écorces serait efficace contre la diarrhée. Il existe une variété de tamarinier à fruits sucrés rencontré surtout en Thaïlande.
