SYZYGIUM (Myrtaceae)
Syzygium zeylanicum (L.) DC.
Small tree, 7-10 m tall, of the clearings formations, especially close to the coast of China, India, Sri Lanka, Indochinese and Malay Peninsula and Indonesia. Fruits and young leaves edible. The wood gives a red dye intended to dye the fishing nets. Bark sometimes used to make torches. It is used also, in traditional medicine, against syphilis and dysentery.

ស្មាច់ ដោមកំពស់ពី៧–១០ម ដុះក្នុងទីវាលមិនឆ្ងាយពីសមុទ្រនៅឧបទ្វីបឥណ្ឌូចិន និងជ្វា នៅប្រទេសឥណ្ឌា និងឥណ្ឌូណេស៊ី ស្លឹកខ្ចីៗ ព្រមទាំងផ្លែអាចបរិភោគបាន ។ ដើមអាចប្រើជ្រលក់សំណាញ់ ឬ សំពត់ឱ្យពណ៌ក្រហម ។ សំបកប្រើធ្វើចន្លុះបាន ។ គ្រូថ្នាំបុរាណប្រើសំបក ផ្ញើថ្នាំព្យាបាលជំងឺមួល និង ស្វាយ ។

Petit arbre, haut de 7-10 m, des formations clairières, surtout proches du littoral de Chine, de l’Inde, du Sri Lanka, de la péninsule indochinoise, malaise et de l’Indonésie. Fruits et jeunes feuilles comestibles. Le bois donne une teinture rouge destinée à teindre les filets de pêche. Ecorce employée quelquefois pour confectionner des torches. On l’utilise aussi, en pharmacopée traditionnelle, contre la syphilis et la dysenterie.
