Sapium sebiferum (L.) Roxb.
Tree, 16-25 m tall, of the open formations of tropical Asia, introduced in the United States as decorative and utilitarian. The young twigs with leaves are used for dyeing the fabrics into black. The seeds known as "tallow nut" are used, in China, Japan and the United States, to make soap and candles.

Arbre, haut de 16-25 m, des formations ouvertes de l’Asie tropicale, introduit aux Etats-Unis, comme ornemental et utilitaire. Les jeunes rameaux feuillés servent à teindre en noir les tissus. Les graines connues sous le nom de « noix chandelle » ou « tallow nut » sont employées, en Chine. au Japon et aux Etats-Unis, pour la fabrication du savon et des bougies.
