RHAPHIOLEPIS (Rosaceae)
Rhaphiolepis indica (L.) Lindl. ex Ker Gawl.
Shrub, 2-8 m tall, of the wet dense coastal forests of the Indochinese Peninsula and China. The inflorescences are often sold on markets. Cultivated as decorative plant in Europe and North America. In Asian traditional medicine, the bitter and astringent bark is recommended against diarrhoeas and severe colds.

Arbuste, haut de 2-8 m, des forêts denses humides littorales et d’altitude de la péninsule indochinoise et de la Chine. Les inflorescences se trouvent souvent en vente sur les marchés. Plante cultivée comme ornementale en Europe et en Amérique du Nord. En pharmacopée Asiatique, l’écorce, amère et astringente, est préconisée contre les diarrhées et gros rhumes.
