Phyllanthus acidus (L.) Skeels
Shrub, 2-8 m tall, of the open formations of tropical Asia, naturalized in the New World and in Madagascar. The acid fruits are edible. They may be found on markets. In traditional medicine, the milky juice pouring from the incised stalks, is used as emetic. In Indonesia, the leaves are used in poultice against the lumbago and sciatica. The roots would be medicinal.

Arbuste, haut de 2-8 m, des formations ouvertes de l’Asie tropicale, naturalisé dans le Nouveau Monde et à Madagascar. Les fruits acides sont comestibles. On peut en trouver en vente sur les marchés. En pharmacopée, le suc laiteux s’écoulant par incision des tiges, est utilisé comme vomitif. En Indonésie, les feuilles s’utilisent en cataplasme contre le lumbago et la sciatique. Les racines seraient aussi médicinales.
