ONCOSPERMA (Palmae)
Oncosperma tigillarium (Jack) Ridl.
Palm tree, 20-30 m tall, with bushy stipes, armed with long black thorns. Common in the coastal forests. at riversides of Cambodia and Southern Vietnam, very plentiful in Koh Kong province in Cambodia. Black, very hard wood, used as pickets in the construction of dams, the manufacture of the boards, the preparation of the umbrella ribs. Green fruit which may replace areca nut in the betel quid.

ឈ្មោះតាលព្រឹក្សមួយប្រភេទ កំពស់ ២០-៣០ម មានមែកច្រើន មានបន្លាពណ៌ខ្មៅដុះក្នុងព្រៃក្បែរមាត់សមុទ្រ ឬ មាត់ព្រែកនៃប្រទេសកម្ពុជា និង វៀតណាមខាងត្បូង ។ ក្នុងប្រទេសខ្មែរ ស្លាតាឱន ដុះជាច្រើនក្នុងខេត្តកោះកុង ។ ឈើ ពណ៌ខ្មៅ រឹង គេប្រើសម្រាប់ធ្វើជាបង្គោលទំនប់ទឹក ធ្វើជាក្តារបន្ទះ ឬ ធ្វើឆ្អឹងក្លស់ ។ ផ្លែខ្ចីៗ អាចស៊ីជំនួសស្លាបាន ។

Palmier, haut de 20-30 m, à stipes en touffes, armés de longues épines noires. Commun dans les forêts littorales, au bord des cours d’eau du Cambodge et du Viêt-nam du Sud, très abondant dans la province de Koh Kong au Cambodge. Bois noir, très dur, utilisé comme pieux dans la construction des barrages, la fabrication de planches, la confection des baleines de parasols. Fruit vert pouvant remplacer la noix d’arec dans la chique du bétel.
