NEPHELIUM (Sapindaceae)
Nephelium lappaceum L.
Tree, 8-15 m tall, of the dense forests of the Malaysia, cultivated in the Indochinese Peninsula and in Indonesia. The ripe fruits are sold on markets. White fleshy arillus, sticking to seed, with a slightly acid flavour, is edible. In traditional medicine, the green fruits are used against different diseases: fever, diarrhoea. The bark would be used in Malaysia against the diseases of the tongue.
