MOMORDICA (Cucurbitaceae)
Momordica charantia L.
Annual herb, climbing on a support, originating from India, cultivated in all tropical regions of the world. The green fruits and the young leaves, very bitter, are used in cooking. Young leaves are used specifically as vegetables by the Khmers in a dish called "sâmlâ kâkô". In traditional Cambodian medicine, the juice extracted from leaves is administered to the patients affected by malaria in times of crisis. In Porto Rico, it seems that the plant is used in the treatment of the diabetes.

ឈ្មោះវល្លិដំណាំប្រចាំឆ្នាំមួយប្រភេទវារឡើងទ្រើង នាំពីប្រទេសឥណ្ឌាមកដាំគ្រប់ប្រទេសក្តៅសកលលោក ។ ស្លឹកខ្ចី និង ផ្លែខ្ចីមានរសល្វីង ប្រើការជាបន្លែ ឬផ្លែប្រើជាអន្លក់ក៏បាន ។ ស្លឹកខ្មែរប្រើសំរាប់បង់សម្លកកូរ ។ គ្រូថាំបុរាណច្របាច់ស្លឹក យកទឹកអោយអ្នកឈឺជំងឺគ្រុនចាញ់ផឹកពេលញាក់ម្តងៗ ។ នៅស្រុក portorico (អាមេរិកក្ដៅ) គេប្រើដើមម្រះ ធ្វើជាថ្នាំព្យាបាលជំងឺទឹកនោមផ្អែម ។

Herbe annuelle, grimpante sur un support, originaire de l’Inde, cultivée dans toutes les régions tropicales du monde. Les fruits verts et les jeunes feuilles, très amères, sont utilisées dans l’alimentation. Ces dernières s’utilisent spécifiquement comme légumes par les Khmers pour un plat dit «sâmlâ kâkô». En pharmacopée cambodgienne, le suc extrait de feuilles est administré en période de crise aux malades atteints de paludisme. A Porto Rico, il semble que la plante s’emploie dans le traitement du diabète.
