Arbre, haut de 8-25 m, des forêts secondaires des péninsules indochinoise, malaise et des régions indiennes. L’arbre attire l’attention de l’observateur par l’odeur agréable qu’il dégage. Les écorces servent à fabriquer des baguettes d’encens.
