LICUALA (Palmae)
Licuala spinosa Wurmb
Palm tree, 2-7 m tall, with 4-7 cm thick trunk, growing in the wet places of fresh and salt water of tropical Asia. The leaves are used for the preparation of hats and to wrap food. The heart and the terminal bud are appreciated as vegetables. In traditional Cambodian medicine, the roots are a component of a febrifuge remedy and for the health of the foetus. The bark of the trunk would be effective against the tuberculosis.

ផ្អាវជាតាលព្ រឹក្សមួយប្រភេទកំពស់ ២-៧ម ដើមក្រាស់ប្រហែល ៤-៧ស.ម ដុះនៅទីដីសើមមាត់ទឹកសាប ឬទឹកប្រៃនៃទ្វីបអាស៊ីផ្នែកក្តៅ ។ ស្លឹកវាអាចប្រើធ្វើជាមួក ឬសំរាប់ខ្ចប់គ្រឿងអាហារផ្សេងៗបាន ។ គមផ្អាវ យកមកស្លកកូរបាន ឬធ្វើអន្លក់ស្រស់ក៏បាន ។ ក្នុងក្បួនឱសថបុរាណខ្មែរគេយកឬសផ្អាវផ្សំធ្វើជាថ្នាំគ្រុន និងសំរាប់រក្សាគត៌ ។ សំបកដើមសំរាប់ផ្សំថ្នាំរបេង ។

Palmier, haut de 2-7 m, à tronc épais de 4-7 cm, croissant dans les lieux humides d’eau douce et salée de l’Asie tropicale. Les feuilles sont utilisées pour la confection de chapeaux et pour envelopper les aliments. Le cœur et le bourgeon terminal sont appréciés comme légumes. En pharmacopée cambodgienne, les racines entrent dans la composition d’un remède fébrifuge et pour la santé du fœtus. L’écorce du tronc serait efficace contre la tuberculose.
