HOPEA (Dipterocarpaceae)
Hopea recopei Pierre
Large tree, 30-35 m tall, of the dense forests of plain, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand. Yellowish wood on fresh parts, gray when dry, resistant to termites and bad weather, much in demand for construction and sculpture; it should however be used relatively young because old specimens have a hollow trunk. The resin is of use to the manufacture of varnish.

ព្រឹក្សធំមួ យ កំពស់ ៣០-៣៥ម ដុះក្នុងព្រៃក្រាស់ លើដីទំនាបនៃឥណ្ឌូចិន (កម្ពុជា លាវ វៀតណាម ថៃ) ។ ឈើ ស្រស់មានពណ៌លឿងភាវ ឈើស្ងួតពណ៌ស្ទើរប្រផេះ រឹង សត្វកណ្តៀរស៊ីមិនដាច់ ត្រូវភ្លៀងខ្យល់មិនខូច មានតម្លៃណាស់ សម្រាប់សង់ផ្ទះ និងធ្វើចម្លាក់ តែត្រូវប្រើដើមមានអាយុតិច ពីព្រោះដើមចាស់ពេកមានប្រហោងក្នុង ។ ជ័រសម្រាប់ធ្វើថ្នាំលាបឱ្យរលោង។

Grand arbre, haut de 30-35 m, des forêts denses de plaine, du Cambodge, du Laos, du Viêt-nam et de la Thaïlande. Bois jaunâtre sur le frais, grisâtre sur le sec, résistant aux termites et aux intempéries, très recherché pour les constructions et la sculpture, mais doit être utilisé relativement jeune car les individus trop âgés ont un tronc creux. La résine sert à la fabrication de vernis.
