Gardenia philastrei Pierre ex Pit.
Shrub or small tree, 3-12 m tall, of the secondary forests of Indochina. The resinous sap of the bud is used as glue to joint the blade and handle of knives.

Arbuste ou petit arbre, haut de 3-12 m, des forêts secondaires de l’Indochine. La sève résineuse du bourgeon végétatif sert de colle pour assembler la lame et le manche des couteaux.
