DIOSPYROS (Ebenaceae)
Diospyros odoratissima Lecomte, var. oblonga Lecomte
Tree, 7-10 m tall, very much branching out, blackish bark, of semi-dense formations of Cambodia from which it is endemic, met only in Kompong’s Cham province. White, very nice-smelling flowers, often picked to make bunches. The wood which produces ebony is in demand to make knickknacks.

ឈើខ្មៅជាព្រឹក្ស កំពស់ ៧-១០ម បែកមែកជាច្រើនសំប កក្រៅពណ៌ខ្មៅប្រផេះ ដុះក្នុងព្រៃក្រាស់មធ្យមនៅកម្ពុជា ជាពិសេសក្នុងខេត្តកំពង់ចាម ។ ផ្កាស ក្លិនក្រអូបគេនិយមបេះដាក់ថូជាលំអផ្ទះ ។ ឈើក្លាយជាឈើខ្មៅស្រិល មានតម្លៃណាស់ សម្រាប់ធ្វើវត្ថុលំអ ។

Arbre, haut de 7-10 m, très ramifié, à écorce noirâtre, des formations semi-denses du Cambodge dont il est endémique, rencontré seulement dans la province de Kompong Cham. Fleurs blanches, très odorantes, souvent cueillies pour faire les bouquets. Le bois qui fournit l’ébène est recherché pour faire des bibelots.
