Dioscorea esculenta (Lour.) Burkill
Climbing, thorny liana, with numerous tubers, arranged in bundle; spontaneous species, cultivated in all tropical regions. The tubers are of the thickness of a potato, with delicate white flesh, eaten cooked.

Liane grimpante, épineuse, à tubercules nombreux, disposés en faisceau ; espèce spontanée et cultivée dans toutes les régions tropicales. Les tubercules sont de la grosseur d’une pomme de terre, à chair blanche délicate, consommés après cuisson.
