Cucumis sativus L.
Herbaceous liana, of sino-himalayan origin, cultivated in the tropical regions for its edible fruits, taken raw as vegetables, or cooked in numerous culinary preparations. The fruit possesses a white flesh; it is harvested either young, known as gherkin, for pickles, or grown-up for common consumption. In traditional medicine, the young fruits cooked in sugar are prescribed to the children against dysentery.

ឈ្មោះវល្លិទន់ម្យ៉ាង ដើមកំណើតពីប្រទេសដែលនៅជុំវិញភ្នំហិមពាន្ដ គេនាំគ្រាប់មកដាំក្នុងប្រទេសក្ដៅ ឬរងាមធ្យម សកលលោក ដើម្បីយកផ្លែធ្វើអាហារ ។ គេអាចបរិភោគឆៅជាបន្លែ ឬឆ្អិនជាម្ហូបផ្សេងៗ ។ គេបេះផ្លែខ្ចី សម្រាប់ជ្រក់ជា " Cornichons " ឬផ្លែធំៗ ជាបន្លែធម្មតា ។ គ្រូខ្មែរបុរាណ ស្ងោរផ្លែត្រសក់ដាក់ស្ករ អោយក្មេងបរិភោគ ដើម្បីរម្ងាប់រោគរាគ មួល ។

Liane herbacée, d’origine sino-himalayenne, cultivée dans les régions tropicales pour ses fruits alimentaires, consommés crus comme légumes, ou cuits dans de nombreuses préparations culinaires. Le fruit possède une chair blanche ; on le récolte soit jeune, sous le non de cornichon, pour des conserves au vinaigre, soit adulte pour la consommation courante. En pharmacopée, les jeunes fruits cuits dans du sucre sont ordonnés aux enfants contre la dysenterie.
