Cassia fistula L.
A 10 to 15 m tall tree, of open formations of tropical Asia, often cultivated as street plant. The fruits, with their pleasant smell, are normally used to perfume tobacco leaves. The pulp of fruits and the bark are often chewed with betel. The marrow is edible. The bark is a dye and also used in pharmacopoeia against scorptions and snakes bites. Purgatives seeds. The very hard wood makes ploughing tools and pilars.
