BOEHMERIA (Urticaceae)
Boehmeria nivea (L.) Gaudich.
Ligneous perennial herb. 1-15m tall, cultivated in tropical Asia for its textile properties. The leaves are used as forage. In local medicine, their decoction is drunk against urinary retention and during pregnancy to prevent blooded discharges. The roots have the reputation as homeostatic and to treat the in the intestinal diseases. The root in the form of powder is used as tonic, diuretic and against cough.

Herbe ligneuse, vivace, haute de 1-1.50 m cultivée partout en Asie tropicale pour ses fibres textiles. Les feuilles servent comme fourrage. En décoction, elles s’utilisent aussi en pharmacopée pour le traitement de la leucorrhée et les pertes sanguines au cours de la grossesse, et la rétention d’urine. Les racines s’emploient comme hémostatique et pour guérir des troubles intestinaux. Réduites en poudre, elles sont employées comme tonique, diurétique et béchique.
